Compensation Expectation: $60 – 85/hr
What You’ll Do As a Technical Business Analyst:
- Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders and product managers to elicit, analyze, document, and refine business and technical requirements.
- User Story Development and Refinement: Translate requirements into detailed user stories that include functional and technical specifications, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
- Data Analysis: Analyze data and data relationships throughout the product functionality development lifecycle to write detailed requirements and technical specifications. Identify data dependencies, analyze data-related defects, and ensure data consistency.
- Technical Specifications and Data Mapping: Partner with engineering team and technical product manager to define and document API payloads, request/response structures, and data mapping between client systems and the reservation system of record.
- System Integration & Workflow Design: Collaborate with engineering teams and technical product managers to design API workflows that ensure data integrity, system compatibility, and seamless integration.
- Testing & Validation: Partner with quality engineers to ensure stories are written with clear, testable acceptance criteria that can be translated into manual and/or automated test cases. Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and quality engineers to understand data requirements and set up test data for validation.
- Documentation: Throughout the development lifecycle, create or update relevant technical documentation (e.g., message request/response definitions), process documentation, release notes, and production support documentation.
Qualifications:
You could be a great fit if you have:
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a technical, API-driven environment, with a strong focus on data analysis.
- Strong understanding of backend software development, including RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, OAuth, and system integrations.
- Familiarity with tools like Postman, Swagger, and API gateways.
- Proficient in working with relational databases and SQL.
- Proficient in data architecture and modeling concepts.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment and using supporting tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data to support business and technical requirements, ensure data consistency, and debug issues.
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience with reservation systems, booking platforms, or travel industry APIs.
- Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives).
- Familiarity with API security best practices, performance optimization, and scalability considerations.
